Rights in Africa
Reflecting on injustice and imagining change through the lens of a young African woman
Rights in Africa is a platform focused on amplifying human rights discourse across the continent. It highlights how regional and international legal instruments, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the Maputo Protocol, apply to everyday realities.
The blog connects these frameworks to global priorities such as the Sustainable Development Goals, with particular attention to SDG 5 on gender equality, SDG 10 on reducing inequalities, and SDG 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions.
Each post aims to unpack complex issues, challenge systemic injustice, and make human rights more accessible to young people, advocates, and community leaders. Rights in Africa positions knowledge as a tool for accountability, critical reflection, and meaningful civic action.
